Looks nice but works about a few weeks then the string breaks and you are out of luck. Ikea will not return the item since they consider it ‘seasonal’. Too bad — most of their furniture is inferior and the service now is too.

We like the umbrella but it wont stay open – it keeps unwinding so we have hadto use a piece of velcro to keep it open. My friend and her son each bought one and they are having the same issues.

I was gonna return it for that but once it’s open, tie a shoestring from the shaft to the crank to hold it in place. Works fine. When u consider that all similar umbrellas are $300 + the Karlso is worth the risk.

I’ve had this for two or three years now and it’s still working well. One time the cord did come undone, so I had to partially disassemble the umbrella and feed the cord back throughh – a pain in the butt, but have only had to do it once… I am looking for a replacement canopy, as mine is absolutely ugly looking at this point – tried to pressure wash it last year, but now I have dirt streaks in the form of spray patterns! Of course with IKEA being European, the other replacement canopies on the market won’t fit – any one have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks! -Tom

Price and style good but crank stopped working after two weeks, umbrella doesn’t stay open. Second umbrella this has happened to.
